18A Workplace Violence and Active Shooter Prevention

This module prepares security professionals to recognize and address potential indicators of workplace violence and active shooter threats before an incident occurs. It emphasizes the difference between proactive and reactive security, the role of deterrence in violence prevention, and the importance of identifying suspicious behavior and potential threat indicators. Participants will examine how a potential attacker may plan and operate, learn to recognize opportunities for early intervention, and apply appropriate reporting and risk-mitigation practices. The module focuses on prevention as a critical security responsibility, with the goal of disrupting attack planning, reducing vulnerabilities, protecting people and assets, and deterring potential attackers before violence occurs.
